From the beginning
Big Yellow opened its first store in September 1998. In fifteen years Big Yellow has grown into the leading self storage group in the UK. Its focus on the location and visibility of its 77 stores, coupled with excellent customer service, has created by far the most recognised brand name in the industry.
How much does it cost?
This depends on where you are storing, how long for and what size room you require. You can get a quote online or speak to a member of Big Yellow's team on 0800 783 4949. All prices given for quotes are for a weekly cost including VAT. Storage is charged 4 weekly and in advance.

Something to shout about!
Estimate how much space you’ll need
Make a list of all the items you plan to store and take this with you to your Big Yellow store where they can show you the options available and advise on the size of the space you’ll need. Or if you're short on time, there is a size estimator within the quote journey on our website. Don’t worry if you’ve over or under estimated your inventory – you can upsize or downsize your space when you need. We offer storage spaces from the size of a wardrobe to a warehouse, so there’s not much we can’t accommodate.
Estimate how long you’ll need storage for
Storage at Big Yellow is ongoing so there is no set move out date once you've moved in. Your storage will continue for as long as you need it, so you can relax knowing your possessions are safe without any deadlines looming. Also consider when you’ll need to access your items during the duration of your stay – we offer extended out-of-hours access for as little as one day, or for the length of your storage.
Pack efficiently
Packing efficiently doesn’t mean cramming your possessions into as few boxes as possible. Not only does this make boxes extremely heavy, it also leaves your items in danger of breaking or becoming misshapen. Make sure you protect fragile or valuable items with bubble wrap or packing paper – you can buy packing materials online or in store – and leave a gap between the contents and the box lid as boxes are likely to be stacked one on top of the other.
