Prior to exchange, organise your removals/packing

Work out what type of removal company you need.
Do you want/need a packing service?
  Secure three quotes for removal companies/vans to hire.

When you have exchanged contracts

  Confirm your move date with the removals/van hire/man with a van services.
  Alert the utility companies of the property that you are moving.

Organise your change of address

Prepare a list of addresses to change organise redirection via the Post Office.
The list needs to include utilities, financial institutions, work, school/college, council tax, doctor, driving licence, loyalty cards, magazines, club membership.

Moving out

Check where and what time you have to hand over the keys.
Consider leaving at least two to three days to pack up your belongings as the day of the move will be taken up with loading vans, sorting bank transfers and dealing with any problems that arise.
Check that everything you agreed to leave to the buyers is in the property or if you have been renting, check that you have left everything originally recorded in the inventory.
Clean where required (if letting you might have to do a professional clean).
Drop off the keys of your hojme either to your estate/letting agent or solicitor and secure a receipt for them.
