Is it worth the time and trouble going to property shows? The answer to this depends pretty much on the type of property project you are working on, or plan to tackle. And obviously the type of property you own is relevant too. You’d probably expect me to say, ‘Yes, go to everything if you can!’ But actually, some are organised better than others and I’d recommend to anyone thinking of coming along to a show to do a bit of homework first.

Everywhere you look in the media today, it is full of stories of the growth in buy to let. The amount of time buy to let is mentioned has grown exponentially with the recent news that people will have easier access to their pensions and rumours of them seemingly blowing the money on cars and holidays or supposedly investing in buy to let.

Renting by the room can be useful for both landlords and tenants, particularly in places such as London, where rates are expensive. For tenants, it's all positive as renting by the room can be far more cost effective than renting a whole property. For landlords, renting out individual rooms can help cover costs in more pricey areas, although maintenance costs may increase.
